Children from Fearnville Primary organised and took part in a charity football tournament to raise money for Heart Research UK.
Footballers paid a 50p donation to take part and parents paid a donation to sit in a special “stand”.
Activities around the pitch included Beat the Keeper, Design-a-Kit, Design a Club Badge, a Bun Stall, Kick-Up competition and a Spot-the-Ball competition which cost between 5p and 50p. A big thank you to the children and parents who helped raise a massive £130 for Heart Research UK.
This tournament was organised to help Heart Research UK and Guiseley AFC (http://gafccommunity.co.uk/) who have been into school to deliver workshops about the heart and teach the children about keeping their hearts healthy.
Allof the children have enjoyed learning about the heart and loved competing in the football tournament.
It was great seeing the KS2 children organising their stalls and helping to organise the event. The year 6s have already started on their next charity event which is a sponsored walk / run around the school grounds for children, parents and staff next week.
More information is available on the school website: http://www.fearnville.bradford.sch.uk/our-school/after-school/football-2014-15
We have had a great relationship with Fearnville School off Sticker Lane in Bradford, sadly the teacher we worked with moved on this summer but we hope to keep the relationship with them going. We have been involved with them on matchday, Guard of Honour & half time exhibition matches If you look on their website you will find a number of photos documenting their visits
Also we have delivered Healthy Heart Sessions at Fearnville a couple of the photos attached are of that the project was funded by SUBWAY/HRUK (Heart Research UK) I will send on an email that shows the children fundraising for HRUK after the sessions as a follow on
