Pupils from St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary School in Yeadon represented Guiseley AFC in The National League Trust Regional Finals played on the all-weather surface at Harrogate Town earlier today.
The eight boys played well in weather that alternated between sunshine and hail against teams from Gateshead, Halifax, York, Harrogate, Hartlepool and Bradford Park Avenue.
The team played some good football and scored several quality goals that produced 3 wins, 2 draws and just a single defeat and with 8 goals for and 5 against, St Peter and St Paul finished in a creditable third place in the final table.
The adults that accompanied the team were very impressed with their performance and the team proved to be great ambassadors for their school and Guiseley AFC. And although a trip to Wembley wasn’t to be on this occasion it was a great and enjoyable experience for the lads.
Thanks are due to Steve Taylor, Community Foundation Development Manager, for organising the event, Andy Brennan and ICM Debt Recovery for sponsoring the playing kit and all the parents who helped with transport to and from Harrogate.
Finally, thank you boys for representing Guiseley AFC in such a mature and professional manner, we hope you enjoyed the day and are not too disappointed.
The results for St Peter and St Paul were:
Guiseley 1-1 Gateshead
Guiseley 2-1 Halifax
Guiseley 0-0 Bradford Park Avenue
Guiseley -2 York
Guiseley 2-0 Hartlepool
