Promoting Healthy Lifestyles, Assisting Offender Rehabilitation and Combating Anti-Social Behaviour in Aireborough and Beyond.

The Guiseley Community Foundation (GCF) utilises the power of sport and the brand and ethos Guiseley AFC as a family orientated club to work with our partners and the local community to deliver a range of initiatives:

Annual Food Bank Collection

Held every December at Nethermoor on behalf of Otley Food Bank and Aireborough Children’s Centre in time for the food to be distributed over the Christmas Period.

Assisting Offender Rehabilitation

Working with Pupil Referral Units, Secure Childrens Homes and Adult Prisons to provide coaching sessions and nationally recognised sports related qualifications. These activities curently take place in Ellar Carr, Adel Beck, Armley & Wetherby

Combating Anti-Social Behaviour

After School Activities with the view to reducing Anti-Social Behavior that include After School Clubs, Boxing Club, Junior Five-a-Side Leagues along with specialist Goalkeeper and Striker coaching.

Health, Fitness & Wellbeing

Providing PE sessions for the Home Educated. Sessions are currently based in Guiseley & Sheffield and feature specialist coaching in Football, Rugby & Boxing as well general fitness, confidence and well being activities.

Encouraging Female Participation

Coming soon a new Women & Girls initiative under the auspices of the Wembley Trust and the National League Trust to encourage football and football related exercise amongst those who are not currently involved with a club.

Health Education

Also coming in the New Year and with the help of Morrisons Supermarkets we will be starting Year 6 health education sessions to increase health and wellbeing and reduce childhood obesity.

Over 50’s

Over 50’s activity sessions to include Walking Football supported by the Coop Community Fund combined with a Dementia event in association with Memory Lane Cafe, aided by funding from Guiseley and District Lions Club.

Curiculum PE Sessions

Guiseley Community Foundation provide Curiculum PE sessions in a number of local Primary Schools plus the three local High Schools. With the help of WRCFA funding they will be starting a pilot sessions within the NWSILC (Green Meadows) in January.

Mens Mental Health

Mens Mental Health sessions linked to Football will start at Nethermoor early in the New Year in conjunction with the Aireborough Children’s Centre funded the #MagicLittleGrants via Peoples Postcode Lottery Funding .

Beer Festival

The Inaugural Guiseley Community Foundation Beer Festival will take place on the weekend of the 16th March 2019 and will raise funds for AVSED, Aireborough Childrens Centre, Memory Lane Day Centre and Guiseley AFC Academy.
